We recognize that shipping cost is a major factor in the decision to purchase a mortar rack. We reduce shipping cost by replacing 1/2" plywood and OSB (wafer board) with 7-ply 3/8" Baltic Birch plywood in the Mega Rack. This cabinet grade plywood is 15% lighter and 50% stronger than regular plywood. (Yes, we tested these materials). The end plates are also made with Baltic Birch plywood.	Another design factor that reduces weight and increases strength is our single piece angled base. Each row of tubes are angled 7 degrees from center for a total spread of 42 degrees.
The Spread-Out Mega 24 rack The MEGA 24 rack is not meant to replace other racks, it is to add another element to your show with 24 - 12 inch DR11 tubes with four rows of six. The center rows are 7 degrees from center and the outside rows are an additional 14 degrees to each side for a total spread out of 42 degrees. That's 40% more spread then the original MEGA rack.
